Helen Mackinnon

is a committed musician who loves accompanying and is thrilled to be playing with Poppy.

Helen was an Organ Scholar at Oxford University where she studied medicine and moving on for clinical studies at St Thomas’ Hospital, she studied at the Royal Academy of Music where she gained her LRAM diploma. Helen was a member of the London Philharmonic Choir and loved singing in the Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall with world class conductors.

Helen worked as Director of Music at three schools in Gloucestershire. Many of her pupils went on to music scholarships and professional careers. Helen’s last job was at the King’s School, Gloucester and she directed choirs and accompanied many performances in Gloucester Cathedral. Helen last worked as the Director of the child bereavement SeeSaw based in Oxfordshire. Under Helen’s directorship, SeeSaw was given a national award as one of the top 10 charities of the year.
Helen moved to Ferndown in April 2020 to be closer to her daughter and 2 grandchildren. But was drawn again to child bereavement work and now supports Simon Says charity in Hampshire. She has also been invited to train staff at hospices in Hampshire to help all staff support children when a parent has a life-limiting illness.
